301 redirect generator: what it is for
Paste each old page and the new one on the same line. The tool strips the domain from the old address and generates the rules in the chosen server's format: Redirect and RewriteRule in .htaccess, location with return in Nginx, the _redirects file for Netlify and Cloudflare Pages, vercel.json, a CSV for Cloudflare Bulk Redirects or HTML pages with meta refresh and canonical.
Copy the rules or download the file with the right name.
How to use
- Choose the server and type (301 or 302).
- Paste the old page and the new one on each line.
- Copy or download the rules and put them on the server.
When to use it
- Changing domains without losing Google rankings.
- Changing a site's address structure.
- Fixing old links that return 404 errors.
Frequently asked questions
When should I use 301 and when 302?
Use 301 (permanent) when the page has moved for good, as in a domain change or a site restructure: Google starts showing the new address. Use 302 (temporary) when the change won't last long, like a maintenance page.
Why redirect old pages?
So you don't lose visits from old links, bookmarks and Google results. Without a redirect, people arriving at the old address see a 404 error and the page loses its search ranking.
Can I use the full address?
In the old page column use just the path (/old-page); the tool removes the domain if you paste the full address. In the new column, it can be a path on the same site or the full address of another domain.
What about HTML redirects?
Meta refresh is for when you have no access to the server (file-only hosting). It works, but it isn't a true 301; prefer server rules whenever you can.
