Base32 encode and decode
Convert text to Base32 (RFC 4648) and back, with or without = padding, with support for accents in UTF-8. Handy for 2FA keys, file names and identifiers.
Paste the text or the Base32.

Base32 encode and decode: what it is for
Convert any text into Base32 using the RFC 4648 alphabet (A to Z and 2 to 7) and decode it back. Choose whether you want = padding at the end. Accents and emojis are encoded in UTF-8, and the tool warns you when the pasted Base32 has invalid characters.
The text is never sent to a server: everything happens in your browser.
How to use
- Choose encode or decode.
- Paste the text.
- Copy the result.
When to use it
- Checking two-factor authentication keys.
- Creating identifiers without symbols.
- Learning about data encodings.
Frequently asked questions
What is Base32?
It is an encoding defined in RFC 4648 that represents binary data using only the letters A to Z and the digits 2 to 7. Because it is case-insensitive and avoids confusing characters like 0, 1 and 8, it is used for two-factor authentication keys and in systems that don't accept symbols.
How is it different from Base64?
Base64 uses 64 characters and produces text about 33% larger than the original. Base32 uses 32 characters and produces text about 60% larger, but it is easier to read aloud and type.
What is padding?
The = signs at the end fill the length up to a multiple of 8 characters. Many systems, such as 2FA apps, accept Base32 without them. The no-padding option removes those signs.
