Electric shower cost calculator
Enter the shower's power, how long each shower lasts and how many showers the household takes per day. The rate comes from your electricity bill (price per kWh with taxes).
What your shower costs
Electric shower cost calculator: what it is for
The calculator multiplies the shower's power (with a summer mode option) by the shower length and the number of showers in the month to get the kWh and the electricity cost at your rate.
With the flow and the water rate, it also estimates the liters and the water cost. A table compares showers from 5 to 15 minutes and shows how much you save per month.
How to use
- Enter the shower's power and mode.
- Type the minutes per shower, showers per day and the rate.
- See the electricity and water cost and the savings from shorter showers.
When to use it
- Understanding why the electricity bill went up.
- Agreeing on shorter showers at home.
- Comparing showers of different power.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find my shower's power?
It is printed on the box, in the manual or on a label on the shower itself, in watts (W). Common electric showers have 4,500 W to 7,500 W on the winter setting; in summer mode, the power drops to about half.
How is the calculation done?
Energy (kWh) = power in kW × hours of use. A 5,500 W shower running for 10 minutes uses 5.5 × 10/60 ≈ 0.92 kWh per shower. Multiplying by the showers in the month and the rate gives the cost.
Where do I find the rate?
On your electricity bill: divide the total amount by the month's consumption in kWh to get the real price, with taxes and fees. The calculator starts with a sample rate; replace it with yours.
What about water?
Electric showers usually have a flow of 3 to 8 liters per minute. The calculator uses the flow you enter to estimate the liters and, with the water rate, the cost.
