Google review link (with QR code): what it is for

Google reviews help a business show up on Maps and convince people who are choosing. The easiest way to get them is to send customers a link that already opens the write-a-review screen.

Paste the business's Place ID (found in Google's Place ID Finder) and the tool builds the link in the search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid= format, generates the QR code to print for the counter, receipt or menu and a ready message to send. Where do I find the Place ID?

In Google's Place ID Finder (developers.google.com/maps/documentation/places/web-service/place-id): search for the business name on the map, click it and copy the code that appears, which usually starts with ChIJ. It's public and works for any business on Google Maps.

Is there another way to get the link?

Yes. In your Google Business Profile (searching for the business name while signed in to the owner account), use the Ask for reviews option: Google shows its own short link. Both lead to the same screen.

Can I offer a gift in exchange for a review?

No. Google's rules prohibit offering or giving incentives in exchange for reviews and asking only for positive reviews, and reviews like that can be removed. Ask all customers equally for an honest opinion.
