Kinematics calculator (constant acceleration)
Solve constant acceleration problems: enter three of initial velocity, final velocity, acceleration, time and displacement and calculate the others with the equations of motion and Torricelli's equation.
How to useEquations of motion and Torricelli's equation
Fill in exactly three fields and leave the other two blank.
Kinematics calculator (constant acceleration): what it is for
Enter three of initial velocity, final velocity, acceleration, time and displacement, and the calculator finds the other two with the equations for uniformly accelerated motion and Torricelli's equation. It also shows the average velocity and says whether the object is speeding up, slowing down or moving uniformly. Velocities can be in m/s or km/h.
The calculations run in your browser and ignore air resistance, as in high school physics exercises.
How to use
- Fill in three of the five fields.
- Choose m/s or km/h.
- See the calculated values.
When to use it
- Solve kinematics exercises.
- Calculate a car's braking distance.
- Check physics homework.
Frequently asked questions
What are the equations of motion?
v = v0 + a·t (velocity), Δs = v0·t + a·t²/2 (position) and v² = v0² + 2·a·Δs (Torricelli's equation, which doesn't use time). With three known quantities, you can find the other two.
What if acceleration is zero?
Then the motion is uniform: the velocity doesn't change and Δs = v·t. The calculator solves that case too.
How do I use negative acceleration?
Type the minus sign, like −2. Negative acceleration with positive velocity means the object is slowing down, like a car braking.
Is it really free?
Yes, 100% free. No sign-up, no subscription and no usage limits. All Tools123 tools are free and run right in your browser.
