Frequently asked questions
What size is an A4 sheet?
210 × 297 mm (8.27 × 11.69 in). In pixels, it is 2480 × 3508 at 300 DPI, the resolution used for printing, and 794 × 1123 at 96 DPI, the standard screen resolution.
How does the A series work?
An A0 sheet has an area of 1 square meter, and each following size is half of the previous one, cut in half across the longer side: A1 is half of A0, A2 is half of A1 and so on. All of them keep the 1 : √2 ratio.
What is the difference between Letter and A4?
Letter, used in the United States and Canada, is 8.5 × 11 in (216 × 279 mm): slightly wider and shorter than A4. That is why American documents sometimes get cut off when printed on A4, and vice versa.
And Legal paper?
Legal is 8.5 × 14 in (216 × 356 mm), the same width as Letter but longer. Tabloid is 11 × 17 in, twice the size of a Letter sheet.
