Do I need a Google API key?
No. The code uses Google Maps' simple embed URL (maps.google.com with output=embed), which doesn't require a key. For custom-styled maps or many markers, you do need the Google Maps API.
Does the map slow down my site?
Google's iframe is heavy. The code uses loading="lazy", so the map only loads when the visitor scrolls to it. Put the map near the bottom of the page, by your contact info.
How do I make a directions button?
Use the generated link: it opens Google Maps (or the app on mobile) with the route to the address. It works well as a button next to the map.
