Frequently asked questions

What is the ideal ratio for drip coffee?

The most common reference is 1 g of coffee to 15 to 17 g of water, or about 60 g of grounds per liter. Start at 1:16 and adjust: less water makes the coffee stronger.

How many tablespoons of grounds per cup?

A level tablespoon of ground coffee weighs about 6 to 7 g. For a 150 ml (5 oz) cup of drip coffee, use about one and a half tablespoons.

Does water weigh the same as milliliters?

For coffee, yes: 1 ml of water weighs about 1 g, so you can measure the water in ml or on a scale.
