Website conversion rate calculator: what it is for

Enter the visits and conversions for the period, such as sales, orders, quote requests or messages, and see the conversion rate, how many visits it takes for each conversion and, with the average sale value, the revenue and the revenue per visit.

You can also simulate how much the store would earn if conversion went up with the same traffic, and how many visits you need to hit a conversion goal at the current rate and at the new one. The formula is conversions ÷ visits × 100; always use the same measure of visits, such as Google Analytics 4 sessions.

How to use

  1. Enter the visits and conversions.
  2. Add the average sale value if you like.
  3. Simulate a new rate and a goal.

When to use it

  • Online stores.
  • Service websites that get leads.
  • Ad campaigns.

Frequently asked questions

How is the conversion rate calculated?

Divide the number of conversions by the number of visits and multiply by 100. With 3,000 visits and 45 orders in a month, the rate is 45 ÷ 3,000 × 100 = 1.5%. A conversion is whatever you want the person to do: buy, request a quote, message you or sign up.

What is a good conversion rate?

It depends on the industry, the price and where the visits come from, so the best benchmark is your own rate from previous months. A store selling expensive products converts less than one selling cheap products, and a service site that counts leads converts more than a store that counts sales.

Visits or visitors?

Always use the same measure. In Google Analytics 4, sessions is the number of visits and users is the number of people. The rate per session is usually lower than the rate per user, because the same person visits more than once before buying.
