Frequently asked questions
How do I price a load?
Add up the trip costs: fuel (distance ÷ fuel economy × price per liter), tolls, vehicle wear per km (tires, maintenance, oil), driver per diem and other expenses. Then add the profit margin you want.
Should I count the empty return?
If the truck comes back empty, the return also uses fuel and causes wear, so it needs to be in the price. The calculator has an option to include the empty return (deadhead).
Is there a minimum freight rate?
In some countries, yes. In Brazil, the ANTT publishes minimum freight rates by cargo type and number of axles. In the US, rates are set by the market, so compare with current load board rates.
