Enter your business, medical or moving, and charitable miles, choose the period of the year, and the calculator multiplies them by the IRS standard mileage rate for 2026, including the midyear increase for miles driven from July 1, 2026. Add a trip log with one line per trip and a round-trip option to total a week or a month of driving.
The rates can be edited, so you can also use your company's own reimbursement rate. Keep a log with the date, destination, purpose and miles for every trip, as the IRS requires for the deduction.

Frequently asked questions
What is the IRS mileage rate for 2026?
For January 1 to June 30, 2026 the IRS set 72.5 cents per mile for business, 20.5 cents for medical and qualifying moving miles and 14 cents for charitable miles. The IRS raised the rates for miles driven from July 1, 2026: 76 cents for business and 23.5 cents for medical and moving. The charitable rate is set by law at 14 cents.
Does my employer have to pay the IRS rate?
No federal law requires employers to reimburse mileage at the IRS rate; many use it as a standard. Some states, such as California, require employers to reimburse necessary business expenses. Reimbursements up to the IRS rate under an accountable plan are generally not taxable income.
Can employees deduct unreimbursed mileage?
Most W-2 employees can't deduct unreimbursed business mileage on their federal return under current law. Self-employed people deduct business mileage on Schedule C, and anyone who itemizes can use the medical and charitable rates.
